New pier will replace structure destroyed by fire last year
Anglo-Irish construction group, John Sisk & Son, has won a circa £30m contract to rebuild the Grand Pier in Weston-super-Mare, which was wrecked by fire last year.
The project for North Somerset Council and the Grand Pier Company is expected to take 46 weeks and restore rides and attractions to the pier.
Designed by Bristol-based Angus Meek architects, the pier is scheduled to open in Summer 2010.
