Cardiff scheme will complete in 2019
ISG has begun work on a £40m scheme to build a student accommodation block in Cardiff.
The scheme (pictured) for specialist developer Fusion Students will run across 26 storeys and feature 675 bedrooms. It was given the green light by city planners last week.
It has been designed by architect Corstorphine & Wright and will include a cinema, gym, private banqueting facilities and 26th floor sky bar.
The block is being built in the Newtown are of the Welsh capital on land which has been empty since the late 1990s.
It is due to be completed by summer 2019 and will be used by students from the city’s South Wales and Cardiff universities.
The scheme is the second major ongoing deal for ISG in the Cardiff with the firm, now owned by US investor Cathexis, also carrying out work on the new Foster & Partners-designed BBC Wales headquarters going up opposite Cardiff Central train station.
