Building and maintenance services contract covers 158 buildings in borough

Interserve has been awarded a five-year £6.5m contract to carry out building and maintenance services for Lewisham Council.

The contract covers 158 buildings throughout the borough including a mix of non-residential sites such as corporate buildings offices, depots and libraries.

Interserve will provide a range of services including management and administration, health and safety, environmental management and building maintenance services.

Keith Dorling, managing director for home affairs and local authorities at Interserve said: “This important project adds to Interserve’s already extensive local authority experience and enables us to bring best practice in support services to Lewisham Council.

“The council was looking for a partner who could offer best value whilst retaining a flexible attitude to delivering services cost effectively, as local government’s requirements change to meet the current political and budgetary challenges.

“It is important for taxpayers to know their money is being well spent, and Lewisham’s choice of Interserve as an intelligent partner means that we can help Lewisham streamline services and save money while putting the citizen’s voice at the heart of decision making.”
