John Cridland, the CBI’s deputy director-general, has warned the government that it will repeat the mistakes of the past if it neglects infrastructure investment in its Comprehensive Spending Review
In a speech last week he said: “Infrastructure investment can contribute to the urgent task of reducing the deficit if there is a relentless drive for more value for money in the way it is delivered, as is being demonstrated by Crossrail.” Chancellor George Osborne is to announce the results of the review on 20 October.
