Scheme was built by Bedford firm SDC
A new building designed by London-based architect Walters & Cohen Architects has been opened at Newnham College, Cambridge.
In 2014, the firm won a competition to design new accommodation at the college as part of a redevelopment at the site.
The Dorothy Garrod building, which was built by Bedford-based contractor SDC Builders, includes a new entrance, conference facilities, a rooftop gym, staff offices, meeting and supervision rooms, as well as 86 student bedrooms with ensuites.
There are also communal kitchen and social areas, a new cafe and a rooftop terrace.
A further 19 bedrooms and two kitchens in the neighbouring Fawcett building were also refurbished.
Gleeds was project manager on the scheme.
