Firm turned over £200m last year
Technical services engineering group Imtech has acquired the UK business of multi-technical services firm SPIE UK in a deal worth more than £40m.
SPIE UK is one of the top 10 mechanical and engineering companies in the country, achieving a turnover of £200m in 2021.
It offers a range of speciality services in industrial instrumentations, clean rooms and life safety solutions – according to Imtech, the deal helps it toward its goal of expanding business in targeted sectors such as education, industry and infrastructure.
Imtech, which is jointly owned by EDF and Dalkia, paid a total £43.4m for the firm, which will add a further 1,800 employees to its existing 2,100.
Rob Goodhew, chief executive at SPIE UK Ltd, said the firm “developed cutting-edge expertise” and that joining Imtech was a “great opportunity for us to capitalise on our strengths and further develop the business”.
Imtech chief executive Gautier Jacob, Simone Rossi, chief executive of EDF Energy, Sylvie Jéhanno, chair and chief executive of Dalkia welcomed the company.
The deal will allow EDF to support its customers’ progress toward net zero, while Dalkia’s Jéhanno said the acquisition aligned with their strategic objective to expand its UK operations.
