David Chipperfield scheme topped out at former brewery grounds in Hamburg
This David Chipperfield–designed scheme is being topped out today. The mixed-use development in Hamburg, Germany includes a 20-storey, 328 room five-star hotel as well as retail and office buildings. The project, called Empire Riverside Hotel, is situated in the former Bavaria brewery grounds, overlooking the River Elbe. The scheme is part of a wider 110,000 sq m housing and office development on the grounds. Chipperfield’s building will be clad in a glass-bronze façade structured with a post-beam construction. The project is due to complete in October 2007.
