REID Architecture's £30m SkyHub plans will provide two storeys of retail and catering facilities
REID Architecture has unveiled the design for a new £30m extension at Glasgow International Airport for BAA Scotland.
The 4000 sq m SkyHub project is the first phase of a development strategy for the airport. The two-storey scheme will provide new retail and catering facilities as well as a new security search area on the first floor.
Over the past 10 years, passenger numbers have increased at Glasgow Airport by 58%.
Glasgow is currently a candidate to host the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Doig & Smith has been appointed QS and Halcrow structural engineer on the scheme. Work will start later this month and is expected to take 18 months to complete.
