The cooling towers of the disused Didcot A power station were destroyed by controlled explosion, just after dawn on Sunday morning. Hundreds of people gathered on a nearby hillside to observe the demolition of the chimneys, which had dominated the skyline of the small Oxfordshire town for more than four decades.
