A view of the Queensferry Crossing as it is illuminated to mark the handover of the completed project to the Scottish government, on Monday night.
The £1.35bn project is the longest three-tower, cable-stayed bridge in the world at 1.7 miles. The bridge was built by a consortium comprised of Dragados, Hochtief, American Bridge International and Morrison. As Building went to press it was due to open to traffic on Wednesday of this week and to be officially opened by the Queen on 4 September.
