More detailed images of the Michael Tippett school in Lambeth are released by architect
Marks Barfield Architects has revealed its design for the Michael Tippett school, the new special needs secondary school in Lambeth.
Incorporating the two existing separate schools on one new site, the Michael Tippett will accommodate 80 students and 55 to 60 staff. The school conforms to the stringent DfES BB 77, including the installation of a hydrotherapy pool.
Parts of the school on the ground floor, including the dinning area, hydrothreapy pool and hall will be accessible for community use.
The school will have a green roof providing both insulation to keep energy bills down in the winter and a natural habitant for plants and small wildlife. It will also act as a visual educational tool for the pupils.
The project has achieved a BREEAM rating of very good.
