Designs by HOK reveal a gigantic new exhibition space for 30 historic aircraft.
HOK has revealed ambitious designs for a new museum at Imperial War Musuem Duxford in Cambridgeshire.
The £24m AirSpace Project will chart the history of Britain’s aviation and aerospace industry and will include 30 historic British and Commonwealth aircraft. AirSpace will feature the redevelopment of Duxford’s Hangar One into a 10,000 m2 exhibition hall and education facility
Guy Comely, vice president at HOK said: “The re-working of the historic hangar has doubled the total exhibition space enabling the introduction of live conservation and educational spaces to the Museum for the first time.”
The project has been allocated £9m by the Heritage Lottery Fund and £995,000 by the East of England Development Agency.
