The three firms will provide design services before work begins on 800-bed jail, and act as design adviser and contract administrator during construction
HLM, Arup and EC Harris have secured a deal to design the 800-bed Magilligan Prison in Northern Ireland.
The three firms have been appointed “exemplar design team” on the £200m scheme, which will be built on the existing prison site for the Northern Ireland prison service.
The team will provide design services during the pre-construction stage, which is expected to last 30 months, and will act as technical design adviser and contract administrator during construction.
Robin Masefield, the prison service director, said: “The HLM team were selected for their design strength and familiarity and experience of major prison developments, both nationally and internationally, and to bring forward the benefits of innovation and sustainable solutions to allow optimum operational benefit and flexibility for the new prison.”
