Consultant will project manage redevelopment of Clare College site
Consultant Hill has won a contract with Clare College at the University of Cambridge to project manage the £5m redevelopment of an existing site to provide new graduate accommodation.
The project will see Hill’s London office project managing the redevelopment of an existing site at Newnham Road, Cambridge into graduate accommodation for around 50 students.
Work on the site is due to start in January 2010 and complete in summer 2011.
The contract is the second to be awarded to Hill’s London office by Clare College following an initial contract to project manage the construction of a new study centre and student accommodation on the College’s Memorial Court site.
The college, reknowned for its medical and veterinary sciences and arts subjects, counts Sir David Attenborough and poet Siegfried Sassoon among its alumni.
Raouf Ghali, president of Hill's project management group, said: “Clare College is one of Cambridge’s oldest institutions, and is seen as one of the most prestigious. It is overhauling its teaching and accommodation facilities, and we’re going to be managing the redevelopment of the site to ensure that the accommodation is up and running in sync with the college’s teaching program for 2011.”
