Consultant’s Spanish arm Gerens Hill starts work on the Galicia scheme

International consultant Hill’s Spanish subsidiary Gerens Hill International has won a contract to provide technical assistance and monitoring services during the construction of the new Vigo Hospital in Vigo-Galicia, Spain.

The two-year contract for client Consortium Novo Hospital de Vigo, S.A. has an estimated value to Hill of approximately €2.7m (£2.3m).

With construction cost of approximately €315m (£268m), the new hospital will provide services to around 600,000 people and will have space for 900 beds, 35 operating rooms, 160 external medical offices and 62 image analysis rooms.

In addition, the Madrid-based Gerens Hill will provide services for the development of the technical design documents, the building fit-out, maintenance, preservation and general operation of the building facilities as well as the financing of the project’s development costs.

Jose Manuel Albaladejo Gonzalez, senior vice president of Hill and managing director of Gerens Hill, said: “The Vigo Hospital is an excellent example of how public-private partnerships (PPPs) are helping to develop new infrastructure in Spain.

“Our team’s extensive experience in overseeing PPP contracts gives me great confidence that we will help our client successfully deliver this important project.”
