Heatherwick Studio appointed to design a park on stilts on Manhattan’s Hudson river
Heatherwick Studio has been appointed to design a park on stilts on Manhattan’s Hudson river.
The concept images for the $130m (£83m) park show an amphitheatre, trees, lawns and paths winding up grassy inclines.
Most of the money for the 1ha scheme, designed in collaboration with landscape architect Mathews Nielsen, will come from the Diller-von Furstenberg Family Foundation, set up by fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg and her husband, movie mogul Barry Diller.
The plans come just days after Heatherwick’s Thames garden bridge plan was attacked as a “luvvies’ folly” by its critics.
