Scheme launched by HCA and London mayor aims to deliver 1,000 famliy-sized new homes in London within three years
The HCA and Mayor of London have launched a scheme aimed at housing 1,000 families in new homes.
The First Step for Families aims to increase the number of affordable large homes available to buy and is targetted at families currently in rented or overcrowded accommodation.
The scheme should provide almost 1,000 new homes in London over the next three years, and 250 by next summer.
David Lunts, London director at of HCA, said: “We’re committed to increasing the availability and choice of larger homes for families in London. This innovative approach to delivering intermediate homes will help Londoners achieve their homeownership aspirations.”
By using the HCA’s Delivery Partner Panel to appoint development partners for these initial sites, we’ll be able to speed up the procurement process and start on site at the earliest opportunity.”
Mayor Boris Johnson said: “Many Londoners dream of being homeowners but are thwarted by the colossal property prices in London. My overriding ambition is to make the capital a city of opportunity and choice and more affordable for ordinary Londoners.”
