Gardiner + Theobald and Atelier 10 also working on project
Plans for a 250-bed hotel next to St Columba Gaelic church in Glasgow have been given the all-clear.
Designed by Hawkins\Brown, the 16-storey, four-star hotel is being built for US hotelier Vienna House and will be the Austrian firm’s first UK hotel.
The project sits on the corner of St Vincent Street and Pitt St.
The public entrance of the four-star hotel is contained within a two-storey area and includes a public restaurant, bar and conference facilities.
The bulk of the building is stepped back from the street in order to respect the street views to the neighbouring category B-listed St Columba’s Church which dates back to 1770.
The wider project team includes Gardiner + Theobald as cost and project manager, Atelier 10 for M&E and structural engineer Quattro Consult.
Work is scheduled to start on site this autumn, with the hotel’s opening set for 2023.
