North London council wants to build 5,000 homes in borough
Three teams have been shortlisted by Haringey council for the chance to build 5,000 homes and redevelop more than 20 sites across the north London borough.
Elephant & Castle developer Lendlease is on the list along with a pairing between Morgan Sindall and housing association Affinity Sutton. The third team comprises housing groups Circle Pinnacle, Catalyst and US finance firm Starwood Capital.
A preferred bidder is due to be named by the beginning of next year with the winning team entering into a 50:50 partnership with the council called the Haringey Development Vehicle.
As well as the new homes, a new centre for Wood Green, where the council has its main office (pictured) is also planned.
A number of sites are set to be redeveloped including the council’s main nine-storey office as well as Wood Green’s civic centre and library – which will be moved elsewhere in the borough.
Other sites up for grabs include the Northumberland Park regeneration area in Tottenham and the former Cranwood House care home in Muswell Hill.
A longlist of six teams was shortlisted back in March and teams to miss out include Galliford Try and Urban & Civic.
