Hammerson hopes to complete the 500,000ft2 development by 2014
Hammerson has submitted planning permission for a 500,000ft2 City development by Make architects.
The scheme replaces a 1950s tower and comprises two buildings at 121-123 London Wall.
The larger 300,000ft2 building at 121 London Wall will offer trading floor space and a series of multi-level terraces. To the west of the site will rise a 16-storey tower provding 195,000ft2 of office space.
The existing high walkway will be retained and there will be new north//south and east/west bridges as well as a new open space.
Martin Jepson, Hammerson managing director, London group, commented: “This is an extremely complex site in a prime City location. Make has delivered an outstanding scheme that respects its surroundings and will change the perception of a traditional City office building.
Hammerson said completion would be set for 2014 subject to planning approval and occupier demand.
