Engineer appointed to work on Glasgow sports arena and velodrome project
Glasgow council has appointed Halcrow Yolles as civil and structural engineer for the national indoor sports arena and velodrome in Glasgow, Scotland.
Halcrow Yolles will work with architect Sports Concepts on the scheme.
His project director, Kenneth Stewart said: “We will be bringing to this commission a wide range of experience in designing sporting arenas across the globe.”
The complex will be located in the Clyde Gateway Area in the East End of the city. It will include an indoor cycling velodrome and facilities for indoor track and field events, badminton, basketball and gymnastics.
The project is intended to boost the city’s ambitions to host the 2014 Commonwealth games.
