Hager has introduced a range of electricity meters that meet the new European requirements for meters used for billing, such as in multi-tenanted offices or retail centres
The company claims the direct connect kWh meters are among the first to meet the new European EN 50470-3 MID approval regulations. This approval is mandatory if you are going to use the meter for payment purposes.
To pass the approval process, an independent laboratory must check both the product characteristics and the manufacturing process. Each meter must also be calibrated, issued with a specific manufacturing number and delivered with sealing kits.
The direct connect meters have an accuracy of +/-1% and include single-phase with direct connection to a maximum current of 63A and three-phase to a maximum current of 100A.
Other meters in the range include three-phase models with connection via current transformers or a KNX output for use with bus-based systems.
Each meter has a large backlit display and can display both the active energy, which is required to make an installation operate, and the instantaneous power consumption, which provides an energy view of the installation at that time.
