NHBC's guides for housebuilders examine green roofs and microgeneration technology for new homes
The NHBC has launched two new sets of green guidance.
The two guides, one on microgeneration technology for new homes and one on green roofs are designed to help housebuilders tackle the new sustainability agenda.
Neil Smith, NHBC’s group head of technical, said most builders needed more information on green technologies. He said: “We are increasingly seeing microgeneration technology installed in new homes in the UK and for most builders this is something quite new for them to get to grips with. We are keen to ensure that consumer protection is not compromised and that homeowners are not used as guinea pigs.”
The microgeneration guide covers the most common technology including: Solar water, heat pumps and wind turbines.
The green roof guidance give details on the different types of flat roofs and where they are most appropriate for use.
