Capita Symonds worked with council to get £30m sports project through planning
A sustainable £30m sports hub has been granted planning permission by Warrington Borough Council to be built on an old landfill site.
The Orford Park project, described as the UK's first community sports hub, will have swimming pools, a sports hall, a health and fitness suite, football pitches, a library, a health centre, and a diploma centre for 14-19 year olds.
Property consultancy firm Capita Symonds worked with the council on the planning of the 20 ha project, which will enable Warrington to play a major role in providing a long-term 2012 Olympic legacy in the North-west.
Ian Marks, leader of the council, said: “This project plays an important part in the vision for Warrington to become an ‘outstanding town’ for all its people.”
The sports village is due to open in November 2011, with two million visitors expected every year.
