Scheme is part of waterfront revamp
An office building by Grimshaw planned for the Belfast waterfront has been given the green light.
It is the second building within the architect’s City Quays master plan for the city’s Clarendon Dock to be given planning.
The overall £250 million scheme was given the green light by Northern Ireland’s environment minister Mark Durkan over the summer with City Quays running across 10ha. It will include offices, residential, a hotel and retail.
Called City Quays 2, construction of the nine-storey block will start next year. It covers 8.800sq m and will be built on a former ferry terminal site on the banks of the river Lagan.
Local practice RPP is behind the first scheme on site, a five-storey office covering 7,700sq m.
