St George’s development on former News International print works site will include 1,800 new homes
St George’s London Dock development in Wapping has been granted planning permission by Tower Hamlets council.
The 15 acre site of the former News International print works will be rebuilt into a residential-led mixed use development after the London Borough of Tower Hamlets’ strategic development committee approved the plans last night.
The development, designed by architect Patel Taylor, includes 1,800 new homes; a school; over 20,000m2 of commercial space; and pedestrian routes criss-crossing the site.
Over half the new development will be open space.
Ross Faragher, managing director of St George, said: “In providing high quality homes, new commercial space and land for a new secondary school all set in a beautifully landscaped site we will create a fantastic place for a new vibrant community to thrive.”
