Architect wins award for modernisation of Victorian housing
Architect Green Cities has won a competition for the modernisation of Victorian housing typologies in Manningham, Bradford.
The competition, launched early this summer on behalf of Bradford Metropolitan District Council and its partner Accent, asked architects to find innovative solutions to today’s lifestyle requirements for two very different houses; a back to back mid-terrace and a large end-terrace.
Andrew Mallinson, head of the district’s regeneration, said: “Green Cities really stood out with its forward-thinking, subtle and sustainable designs that will really transform the two properties.”
Green Cities won for its design ideas on both properties. The judging panel said the young Manchester-based firm’s designs stay away from “fancy gimmicks”.
