Construction product supplier launches new range to boost UK PassivHaus takeup
In a bid to increase the take-up of PassivHaus construction in the UK, supplier Green Building Store has launched a series of specially developed products.
PassivHaus design is based on the principle that reducing heating loss to the minimum is the most cost-effective way of creating a low-carbon building.
Instead of complicated design and expensive bolt-on renewables, the design instead relies on high standards of thermal insulation and airtightness, combining this with passive solar gain and mechanical ventilation and heat recovery systems to create buildings that use 90% less energy for space heating than do conventional buildings.
The PassivHaus products include:
- doors and windows with U-values as low as 0.65W/m2K
- airtightness membranes and tapes to help buildings achieve the high levels of airtightness required and protect the building structures from condensation and damp
- a mechanical ventilation heat recovery system
- a PassivHaus design and build service in West Yorkshire and the Northwest region.
