Irish builders' merchant buys Davies plumbing business and Garvey's Builders Merchant.
Grafton Group, the Irish builders’ merchant and DIY group, has bought two companies in the country which are expected to provide a combined annual turnover of €47.4m (£32m).
It has acquired Davies, a Dublin-based plumbing, heating and drainage business, and Garvey’s Builders Merchant, based in Roscommon.
Davies was established in 1933 and has an annual turnover of €37.4m.
Garvey’s works predominantly in the repair, maintenance and improvement sector and the residential construction market. It has an annual turnover of €10m.
Grafton director Leo Martin said that the Davies acquisition would enable the company to broaden its product portfolio in markets which have strong growth opportunities and described Garvey’s as “an ideal geographic fit.”
