Government quashes Westferry Printworks permission due to Jenrick’s ‘bias’

Media mogul’s scheme for 1,524 homes has had controversial permission rescinded after legal challenge

The government has agreed to quash planning permission for the huge Westferry Printworks scheme in east London after accepting secretary of state Robert Jenrick had shown “apparent bias” in approving it.

The 1,524-home scheme from former Daily Express owner Richard Desmond’s Northern and Shell firm was approved controversially in January by Jenrick against the recommendation of a planning inspector.
