Construction on the 12,000-seat stadium to last 12 months
GMI Construction has been awarded a contract to build a new 12,000-seat stadium for Rotherham United Football Club.
The stadium will be built on a disused site in Rotherham city centre with the project due to be completed in time for the 2012/2013 season.
Gleed is project manager, quantity surveyor and CDM coordinator while S+P architects have drawn the designs.
Commenting on the development, GMI managing director Jarrod Best said it was “an exciting honour”.
Tony Stewart, chairman of Rotherham United, said: “I am absolutely thrilled with the final designs.
“This stadium will be an iconic figure right at the centre of Rotherham and its facilities and unique design will stand up against any stadium in the country.”
