Ross Ancell's arrival continues the contractor's board level reshuffle
Gleeson has appointed Ross Ancell, executive chairman of construction firm Churngold, as a non-executive director.
Ancell’s appointment, which is effective from 1 October, comes as another non-executive director, John McKenna, has resigned from the board.
Commenting on Ancell’s appointment, Gleeson chairman Dermot Gleeson said: “Ross unquestionably has the skills and experience needed to help us to develop and implement our new corporate strategy and I am delighted that he has agreed to join the Board.”
Until 2003, Ancell was chief executive officer of Churngold Holdings. From 2002-03, he was also chairman of the Environmental Services Association. From 1981-1996, he was at George Wimpey, latterly as managing director of Wimpey Minerals.
In addition to his role at Churngold, Ancell is currently a non-executive director of Hong Kong building materials and gaming company Galaxy Entertainment Group. He is also is non-executive chairman of Sedgemoor, a provider of children's care homes, and non-executive chairman of Taylor Containers, a manufacturer of wheelie bins.
