Gleeds wins contracts for £850m Birmingham schemes

Consultant Gleeds has been appointed cost manager on two Birmingham schemes worth £850m.

Birmingham Alliance appointed the consultant on the £600m Martineau Galleries mixed-use regeneration scheme which will link Birmingham’s retail area to the Eastside.

Work is due to start in 2009 on the former site of the Masshouse Circus.

The consultant is also working in partnership with Ballymore Properties on the development of the £250m mixed-use development of Snow Hill in the city centre which is already underway.

The project, designed by Sidell Gibson and Glenn Howells Architects, includes 1,400,000 ft² of commercial, residential and retail space.

A five-star hotel is among the building projects.

Completion of the Snow Hill scheme is aimed for 2011.
