Gleeds has bought an education consultancy, Cocentra, for an undisclosed sum in a bid to survive the cuts to the Building Schools for the Future programme

Richard Steer, senior partner at Gleeds, said the deal was an attempt to diversify the QS’s education services away from just construction.

Cocentra is a £2.75m-turnover firm with about 30 staff. It provides advice on education and ICT to schools in the UK and abroad.

Steer said: “We see continuing opportunities in education, although with the cuts they may change in nature, and we want to move further up the food chain into client bodies.”
