Consultant is also Silver sponsor for temporary structure designed by Herzog & de Meuron and Ai Weiwei
Consultant Gleeds will act as QS and Silver sponsor for the 12th annual Serpentine Gallery Pavilion designed by swiss architect Herzog & de Meuron and Chinese contemporary artist Ai Weiwei.
This year’s design will be the first to allow visitors underground. Eleven columns will pay homage to Pavilions from past years plus a 12th new column will be in place to support a floating platform roof above the auditorium which will resemble an archaeological site.
Gleeds’ sponsorship follows its involvement with the development of the new Serpentine Sackler Gallery in Kensington Gardens, formally known as The Magazine and designed by Zaha Hadid, on which the firm is QS and contract administrator.
Richard Steer, Gleeds chairman, said, “We are delighted that our involvement in the extensive redevelopment of the Serpentine Gallery has led to an opportunity for us to sponsor their prestigious Pavilion project. Working with top designers who have a global reputation like Zaha Hadid and Herzog & de Meuron is both exciting, stimulating and the kind of iconic activity which we welcome.”
