Consultant is project and cost manager on scheme that includes conversion of existing property, refurbishment and new build
Consultant Gleeds has been re-appointed by the University of Bath on a four year framework. The contract will see the firm offering project and cost management services across a series of projects including the conversion of existing property, refurbishment schemes and new build.
Terry Langdon, Gleeds Bristol office director, said: “We are delighted to be re-appointed by the University of Bath on their framework.
“It’s due to our project and cost management roles on projects like 4 West, which broke new ground in terms of its approach to demolition and asbestos removal in the heart of a working campus, that the university is keen to involve us in its continuing development.
“We feel we won our spurs over the last four years working on a selection of new build and alteration projects and managed the decanting of students and academics from old buildings into new purpose made facilities in a seamless manner.
“Hence we are keen to play a pivitol role as the university develops in the future.”
The £10m 4 West refurbishment and new build project just completed involved demolishing a 1960’s building and constructing a range of new research and teaching facilities with BREEAM Excellent rating.
The scheme utilised sustainable building techniques from the Kiefer system which uses the mass of the building as a heat sink to assist in the control of the temperature of the building.
