Contractor wins contract to build six new six schools and refurbish 41 more over the next two years.

Contractor Galliford Try has won a £150 million PFI education contract in Northamptonshire, one of the largest projects of its kind.

The deal, awarded by Northamptonshire County Council, involves construction of six schools and refurbishment and extensions to a further 41. The work will take place over a two-year period.

David Calverley, chief executive of Galliford Try, said: “We are delighted to work in collaboration with Northamptonshire County Council on their major initiative to improve the schools in their area”.

“This project builds on our track record with multi-school PFI programmes and reinforces our objective of being a major provider of construction services in this growing sector of the market”.

Galliford Try will act in consortium with Babcock & Brown and facilities manager Amey BPO Services on the scheme.
