English Partnerships selects housebuilder and Affinity Sutton Group as preferred bidder on regeneration project
Galliford Try will jointly pioneer one of the first major carbon neutral developments in the UK.
The housebuilder, in partnership with Affinity Sutton Group housing association, has been named the preferred bidder on the planned redevelopment of the former Graylingwell hospital site in Chichester, Sussex.
Greg Fitzgerald, chief executive of Galliford Try, said: “We are excited to be working again with English Partnerships to provide this pioneering carbon neutral development in Chichester.”
The firm will be working alongside English Partnerships on the development which will be placed over 90 acres of grade II listed parks and gardens of historic interest.
Around 800 homes are set to be built, of which 40% will be affordable, along with commercial and community buildings.
The development has been described as a landmark sustainable scheme, providing high quality zero carbon building design.
Galliford will also be using specialist expertise to renovate and convert existing former hospital buildings to provide new homes.
Further plans include a 50,000 sq ft of commercial and community facilities including a theatre, artists studio, offices and a restaurant.
