Architect reveals first images of PGA Tour building in Florida
Foster & Partners has unveiled its design for a new global headquarters for US golf’s PGA Tour.
The 187,000sq ft building, in Ponte Vedra Beach in Florida, will allow all the expanding organisation’s staff to work under one roof.
It will be set in a green landscape beside a large lake, in an echo of the famous Island Green 17th hole at the Tournament Players Club (TPC) Sawgrass which provides a point of axial orientation for the building.
The HQ is organised as a pair of parallel three-story glazed bays flanking an atrium. The two bays are connected by 20-foot-wide bridges that encourage chance meetings and allow for informal gatherings along the edges without impeding the flow of people.
Biophilic design and staff wellbeing are central themes, with a raised floor that allows for better air quality, site-wide recycling facilities and a 1.3 km running track in the middle of a wood.
