Building will be one of New York's first "green" skyscrapers

Norman Foster has been chosen to design a tower for the World Trade Center site in New York.

Lord Foster’s tower, the third to be built on the site, will be one of the city’s first “green” skyscrapers and will open 2011. Only the Freedom Tower, 7 World Trade Centre and the Hearst Tower – also designed by Foster - will get green status first.

The 65 storey tower will have 731,520m2 of office space and 39,624m2 of retail and will be linked to the site’s new transport hub.
