Foster + Partners reveal eco-friendly masterplan for five Bulgarian hill towns
Foster + Partners has launched a masterplan for a carbon-neutral resort on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast.
The scheme, which is Foster’s first project in Bulgaria, includes five hill towns and a marina plus an activity centre, sports park, restaurants and shops.
The towns, which will house 15,400 people, have each been given names such as Sky Village, Sea Village and Wilderness Village.
They will include electric shuttle buses and pool cars to encourage residents to ditch their cars. Other eco-friendly plans include a combined heat and power plant
The first phase of the masterplan will be Sky Village, where houses will be dug into the hillside.
