Sport England chief says Europa Centre defines the concept of ‘legacy investments’
Formation Architects’ £4.9m Europa Centre sports centre has been officially opened in Bexley, south-east London.
It boasts a gym, weightlifting, boxing, dance and martial arts studios as well as social and medical facilities.
The 5,508m² amenity was built by contractor ISG Jackson Ltd. for Barratt Homes.
Jennie Price, chief executive of Sport England, said the venue would allow local people to enjoy their sport in world-class facilities.
“The Europa Centre encapsulates exaclty what we’re aiming to achieve through our legacy investrments,” she said.
The centre recieved some £1.24m of National Lottery funding, via Sport England’s Iconic Facilities fund.
