Federation of Master Builders terminates the membership of four firms following complaints from clients.
The Federation of Master Builders has expelled four building firms for misconduct and bringing the FMB into disrepute.
J C S Architectural Services Ltd, based in Bodmin, Cornwall, Adam Fry General Builder from Taunton, Somerset, Leeds-based Cartwright Construction Ltd and J M Slater from West Hallam, North Lincs, had their memberships terminated after the FMB investigated a number of complaints from clients.
FMB director general Ian Davis said: "The FMB operates a rigorous complaints procedure and works closely with the Trading Standards officers throughout the country to protect householders."
"The conduct of these firms was well below the standard expected of our members."
The association has advised trading standards of its decision.
The FMB is the construction industry's largest trade association, representing 13,000 firms. It aims to assist small and medium sized firms, to promote high standards of craftsmanship and to assist builders continually to improve levels of performance.
