Four more new secondary schools to be built in 'huge' Northamptonshire scheme
Consultant Gleeds has completed the first of five new build secondary schools as part of a £200m PFI project in Northamptonshire.
Gleeds has acted as employers agent on behalf of investment firm Babcock and Brown. The firm has also been technical advisor to funding company Sumitomo Bank, as well as independent certifier under a joint appointment by Babcock and Brown and Northants County Council.
Stuart Senior, managing partner responsible for the project, said: “This is a huge project, which will change the face of education in Northamptonshire and give pupils a head start by ensuring all facilities are fit to meet the challenges of the 21st Century.”
Once complete, the PFI project, which began in January 2006, will see the rebuilding of 11 schools (five secondary schools and six primary schools) and the refurbishment and remodelling of 30 others.
