Halcrow-led design will be on site of historic London Astoria music venue
This is the first available exterior rendering of the Tottenham Court Road Crossrail station. Halcrow are responsible for the station design with architects Hawkins Brown and Acanthus Lawrence & Wrightson.
Tomorrow, the famous London Astoria music venue will hold its final concert before ownership of it and other nearby properties which have been compulsorily purchased are prepared for demolition. These will come into the ownership of Crossrail on 19th January.
McGee have been awarded the contract to demolish the properties, which they will do floor-by-floor since they are in a controlled area. Demolition is due to take a year and construction should begin by 2010. TfL are set to award the main construction contact in the autumn.
