Fire-rated floor doors by Bilco have been used at the Forum, the latest addition to the University of Hertfordshire
The £38m development forms part of the university’s College Lane Campus in Hatfield and houses student and community facilities.
The floor doors provide a secondary means of escape from the Forum’s plant room and provide up to two hours of protection in the event of a fire. Measuring 915 x 1,220mm and 785 x 1,040mm, each door is constructed of steel with a fire-resistant coating for added safety. They are designed and tested to the British Standard BS 476, Part 22.
The doors are fitted with lift assistance which permits one-handed operation and each has an automatic hold-open arm.
