Jeld-Wen, the maker of interior and exterior doors, has supplied Gwynedd council in Wales with 35mm fire doors for the refurbishment of 100 blocks of flats
The flats range from Victorian-style conversions to fifties tenements and have been modernised and upgraded with the company’s FireGuard doors, which have a flush ash veneer finish. Flat entrance doors were also upgraded to fire-resistant versions, with Jeld-Wen supplying 44mm FD30 fire doors in order to comply with Approved Document B. According to the company, FireGuard is the only 35mm, 30 minute fire-rated door currently available.
The fire doors comply with Part B of the Building Regulations, are tested to British Standards and, according to Jeld-Wen, are lighter and more user-friendly than traditional 44mm fire doors.
