Cost consultant to take on 75km waterway and associated 20,000ha development for Limitless
Consultant Faithful+Gould has been appointed to a 75km manmade waterway in Dubai by developer Limitless.
The cost consultant's Middle East office will work on the Arabian Canal Development, which includes a £5.6bn waterway and £25.6bn coastal development.
The canal, which will be up to 150m wide and 6m deep, is set to flow inland from Dubai Waterfront, past the international airport and back towards Palm Jumeirah.
A 20,000ha development along the canal's southern bank will include marinas, residential areas and business centres.
David Stapleton, Faithful+Gould's regional director in the Middle East, said that logistics will be a challenge for the project. To keep the canal at sea level, a billion cubic metres of material will have to be excavated to a depth of 70m.
He added: “Faithful+Gould is honoured to be part of this ambitious project and continuing our working relationship with Limitless.”
