The judges felt that the range of projects submitted by van Heyningen & Haward demonstrated its “huge enthusiasm for this sector”. Attention to detail and quality runs throughout all the projects, from an RIBA national award- winning education centre for the RSPB to a new Welsh language primary school and nursery.
The judges said these were “gentle buildings that put the user first”, but they also demonstrated the architect’s “passion and commitment” to design buildings that are full of delight.
Also shortlisted: Architype de Rijke Marsh Morgan Architects (dRMM), DSDHA, van Heyningen and Haward Architects and Wilkinson Eyre Architects.
