Exclusive: Energy firm seeks consultants as it prepares for project to enter delivery phase
EDF Energy is seeking five consultants to fill major roles on its £16bn Hinkley Point nuclear power plant scheme, Building can reveal.
The move comes as EDF prepares for the project to enter the delivery phase.
It had been set to make a final investment decision on whether to go ahead with the project this month, but this has been put back because the European Commission has yet to rule on whether EDF’s deal with the UK for financial support for the scheme meets state aid rules. Building understands that this decision is now not set to be made until October.
EDF is seeking firms to fill three project management roles overseeing the project’s off-site work, site operations, and building and civil engineering work respectively. It is also seeking firms for two commercial management roles.
EDF will host an event for invited bidders later this month, with the list of invitees understood to include Turner & Townsend, EC Harris and Sweett Group, among others.
One source close to the competition estimated the value of the work at around £100m.
